Gadda e il positivismo. Una rilettura filosofica del “Pasticciaccio”

The essay revisits Carlo Emilio Gadda’s Quer pasticciaccio brutto de via Merulana in relation to Gaddsa’s personal philosophical concerns (chiefly to be found in his Meditazione milanese): the quest after the origins of the world’s secret order, the enigmatic status of human freedom, the analysis of the causes of violent behavior. Gadda’s philosophy is essentially Positivistic: he is fascinated by the world’s inexhaustible vitality but also discomfited by the tragic facts of chaos, violence, and suffering
